Dentures in Peterborough
At Peterborough Dentists, a key aspect of the dental care we provide is focused on helping our patients keep their teeth for life. Good dentistry is all about helping patients preserve their teeth for as long as possible, through regular check-ups and providing them with help and advice on looking after their teeth and gums. However in some cases, despite the best efforts of our patients and their dentists, some patients find that they need partial or full dentures to replace missing teeth.
Wearing dentures is no longer the ordeal it used to be. Modern techniques mean they fit far better than they used to, and look far more realistic too. The good news is that our dentists are highly skilled in this area of dentistry. Our dentists excellent training and experience mean that patients requiring dentures can be confident that they are getting the best.
For some dental patients, who prefer more permanent fitting dentures, we are now able to offer mini dental implants. These consist of miniature titanium implants about the size of a wooden toothpick, a series of which are gently placed in the jaw bone. The procedure, which takes about an hour, requires only local anaesthetic and is relatively painless. The denture is then adjusted so that it fits securely on to the implants. The result is a tight fitting, completely reliable system, which allows the patient to speak and eat with confidence.
Even if you have lost all your teeth, you will still need to visit us regularly to ensure that your dentures still fit properly and also so we can check for signs of oral disease, including mouth cancer. You also still need to care for your mouth, brushing your gums, tongue and palate daily as well as cleaning your dentures thoroughly.
We will be delighted to tell you more – just ask us.
