Sedation therapy in Peterborough
Are you fearful about seeing the dentist? Our friendly, understanding and compassionate manner, together with our modern, pain-free techniques, are often all that is needed to put anxious dental patients at ease. However, for the most fearful of patients or those patients that are undergoing particularly lengthy dental procedures we can offer sedation.
Our sedation is administered intravenously (IV sedation), usually through a virtually, painfree injection in the back of the hand. It will very quickly make you feel drowsy and pleasantly relaxed, but you will still be able to co-operate with the dentist. Many patients remember nothing about the dental treatment afterwards and say it simply felt as if they went to sleep.
You will stay at our practice for a little while when your treatment finishes, to ensure that the sedative is wearing off and that you are OK. You are likely to feel drowsy for up to 24 hours, and will be unable to drive, operate machinery, cook, or do anything else that could potentially be dangerous if you are unable to concentrate. We advise all our sedation patients to have someone available to take them home, and to stay with them for 24 hours.
